Sargent Rehabilitation Center is expanding its group offerings to make room for speech and language We will continue to offer The Action Zone groups, which will focus on occupational therapy services and we are happy to introduce our new zones. The Express Zone, a speech and language group and A & E, a combined speech and occupational therapy group. 1. 3. THE ACTION & EXPRESS ZONE (A&E) This group is run by an occupational therapist and a speech-language therapist. It is designed for students, ages 3-12, who need additional movement and language support. For more information on these three groups, please contact Amy Marcille or Patrecia Zebrowski, Occupational Therapists, at Sargent Center (401-886-6643). Placement and General Information: Placement is based on availability of appropriate peer matches. Size of groups will range from 3-6 children. Groups are held for 5 consecutive weeks (except holidays) for one hour per week. A pre-enrollment process.is required before placement in a group. Fees and Payment Sources: A modest $15 pre-enrollment fee will be charged for all applicants. The pre-enrollment fee is self pay. For children who have not received services at Sargent Center within the past year, a screening (half-hour assessment) will be required to determine appropriate placement. A screening fee will be charged for the service ($60). The screening fee is self pay. Children who have received services at Sargent Center within the year will not require a screening assessment. Payment sources for Action Zone groups include E~SDT and self pay (cash, Visa, MC, Am.XP). Payment for Action Zone or Express Zone Groups is $480 (8 weeks. one-hour sessions). Payment for A&E Groups is $960 (8-weeks. one-hour sessions.

The Groden Center
THE GRODEN CENTER, INC. Community Support Services Consultation Program is now offering School based Group Therapy Programs including: • Social skills training for children and adolescents in the school setting • Designed for children with Aspergers Disorder and/or social skills deficits that may be interfering with achieving success in the educational setting • Skills taught include: peer interaction skills, self control, stress/anger management, understanding emotions, reading social cues, problem solving, conversation skills, friendship building • Groups for ages 5 to 18 • Services provided in the school setting during or immediately after school hours • Parent and teacher training offered to enhance generalization of skills across settings REFERRALS To make a referral, contact the CSS Referral and Service Coordinator, Maggie Powers, at 274-6310, ext. 1242.
SIBLINK BROTHERS, SISTERS AND SPECIAL NEEDS
When a child is diagnosed with a chronic illness or disability, brothers and sisters face unexpected challenges. Although every child's experience is unique, siblings often express similar concerns and share common needs. These include: The need for simple, accurate information about their brother/sisters illness, its cause and treatment The need to talk honestly with a trusted adult or friend • Concern about their own and other family members' health • Adapting to changes in family routines, activities, and opportunities • Reactions of friends and peers Like their parents, siblings cope and adapt better to their brother/sister's illness or disability when they have information, support from their families, and the opportunity to speak with other children who have had similar experiences. Many services are available at Hasbro Children's Hospital to address the needs of brothers and sisters. These resources include: Evaluations Individual evaluations are available to assess siblings' understanding and adjustment to the brother/sisters' illness or disability. Evaluations may involve interviews and questionnaires completed by siblings and their parents. Feedback is provided to each family regarding the child's strengths. Recommendations are offered to address each child's needs. Individual and Family Counseling Individual and family counseling is available from professionals trained to understand the unique concerns of brothers, sisters, and parents. Sibling/Parent Groups Sibling groups are available for siblings ages 4 to 18 years old. Sibling groups meet for six weeks and are scheduled each fall and spring. All children enrolled in Sib Group receive an individual evaluation before and after the program. Siblings meet in small groups with other children or teens whose brothers and sisters have a wide variety of medical or developmental problems. The activities are designed to be educational, therapeutic, and fun. Simultaneous groups are conducted for parents to address their concerns about brothers and sisters. Fees Fees for individual or group services for siblings may be billed to your insurance company. Sib Group requires a separate $25.00 registration fee to cover cost of materials. All fees are offered on a sliding scale. We are happy to discuss any questions regarding fees.
